[pir.org...]

Seems like even little old .Org is getting an excess of queries about domain status.

Effective August 20th they will start limiting queries to 4/minute.

Wonder how they'll deal with proxy servers that assign random IP addresses?

No wonder they're getting an excess of queries about domain status. They display admin email addresses from the Whois records as plain unobfuscated text. Email address harvester bots must love their site.

It doesn't really mean much since some serious speculators have direct access to the
zone files anyway. Not to mention you can run a scanner against their WHOIS to parse
the data from it.

Oh well, some effort is better than none. :)

Since the changeover to the new .org Whois, I've noticed a significant amount of server errors. Probably something like 1 out of 4 queries.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.Web.HttpException: Unable to validate data.
