Should I purchase / use the singular version or plural version of a domain name?

Example.com or Examples.com? Widget or widgets?

I am starting a forum to discuss a new company.

Lets call it "Example.com".

Which do you think is best?

ExampleForum.com or ExampleForums.com

Why not register both if they are available? I see a lot of people even register the .net and .org, just in case.

Bingo! At least get both .coms.

If your forum is a big success then you'll rue the day you saved the $10.00 or less, as someone profits from misguided type-in traffic and your members get annoyed or prospective members get waylaid.

Thanks for the replies! Guess I'll buy both. Which one should I use as the primary domain?

perhaps you've answered your own question :)

If people are searching I think the majority of people would search on the singluar and far less on 'forums'. I think even less would use 'fora' the original plural of forum.

Many big corp forums use only the plural form; e.g.:

forums.amd.com
forums.pgpsupport.com
etc.

I'd follow their example and use the plural as primary. Definitely don't forget to register the singular form and 301-redirect to the primary domain.
