<How does a company choose a good website name? What is the process for choosing a name? What criteria do you apply?>

[edit reason] Please avoid reference to specific domain names [/edit]
A good website name meets many of these criteria:
- It's short
- It's descriptive (describes the company's business)
- It's easy to type on a keyboard
- It's easy to remember
- It's easy to understand when it's said on the phone or on radio
- It doesn't infringe on another company's trademark nor is it confusingly similar in name to another popular website
- It's tld specific: .Net for Networking, .Com for commerce, etc.
Come up with several candidates and then test them amongst friends, family, co-workers.
Oh, yes, and register them before testing them. ;)
