About a month ago, I didn't renew a couple of useless domains with hyphens between three or four keywords.

These domains were empty, I didn't created any content for them.

Today I was checking the page rank of my current sites using an old listing and by saw that these domains, which are now offered by GoDaddy, show a page rank of 7 and they all have the same set of unrelated backward links.

I guess that they sharing the same IP as a PR 7 domain.

I didn't know about this and although never thought of buying domains by their page rank, I certainly won't do that in the future.

Sounds to me like PR "cloaking".

Always be wary of it when looking at buying domains or links:-

Well, technically it is PR cloacking or Fake PR, but I guess it is not intentional which is worse because this is happening with a trustable company like GoDaddy.

It is that currently things are getting so complicated with search engine algorithms, DNS, redirections and so, that nothing seems to be real!
