I am thinking of 'applying' to be able to buy domain names on behalf of my customers under my own TAGS, I guess I want to become a registrar :)
Software to allow domain transfer, change of nameservers etc but also ssl credit card processing.
Hardware is self explanatory.
Cheers

The startup is less and you can get the same level of branding.
eNom offers a pretty nice reseller program (their business model is sort of based on the reseller model), and there are several others.
Once you are signed up as a reseller, there are even "off the shelf" scripts you can buy that will tap into the enom reseller api so all registrations are performed by your company and enom is transparent to your customers.
openSRS is great, and they have good support, but the bottom line pricing and included features that come with each domain registration sent me to eNom.
I still use openSRS for a few client domains.
I'm surprised that eNom doesn't have the extension you're looking for. What extension is that?
You used to have to be a Franch registered business and/or have a French registered trade mark to register a domain. Now you just have to be an organisation with an address in France and less strigent rules apply. In the next wave of deregulation anyone with a French address will be able to register a name.
Its an interesting market though. No speculative registrations have been possible up to now so there are lots of possibilities once deregulation is complete, provided you have a French address.

That's not entirely true :) A lot of french companies / webmasters have registered loads of domain names since may last year (date of the first deregulation) - the number went from less than 200,000 (.fr open since sept 1999!) to close to 370,921 today (with almost 100,000 bought between may and june last year).
Src AFNIC the body managing the .fr
Still they are far from the 4,167,002 of they .uk counterparts (src nominet the body managing the .uk)

If you do provide domain name purchase one of your site did you have to do any programming of do they provide the facility?
Most of the domains I register are for clients, but I do take a few (very few) orders through my website. Right now, I use a shopping cart (google cwhois domain) to check the domain availability and capture the client information, then I register the domain manually. Tucows does offer an API to automate the process, but I don't take enough web orders to warrant the number of hours I would need to spend setting it up (I'm not a programmer, and find these things a challenge!).
