SnapNames and Network Solutions

If the domain is registered with NetSol, is SnapNames all I need?

There is a relatively obscure domain currently registered with Network Solutions that I'm interested in. Normally, I would just wait for it to drop but decided it was worth $60 to put a Snap on it.

Here is my question (and this seems to come up occasionally, but I'm trying to find out the latest info)...

If I put a backorder through SnapNames for the domain, do I need to worry about Pool, etc., etc.? Is it likely that some other service will be able to grab it? What would you do?

If the name has expired but hasn't been deleted yet, then snapnames will come in 35 days after
expiration.

Otherwise, if the domain is in the registry and will be available soon, then use the others if you
can afford it.

Worry? Why worry? Snap is free until capture. So is Pool. Cover your bases and hope for the best. Snap is supposedly on the inside track to NetSol drops. The only 2 entities who actually know if they're batting 1000 is NetSol and Snap. I haven't seen them announce a 100% success rate, have you? If I was batting 1000 or hitting my goal 100% of the time I'd probably brag about it.

Snapnames will have the Netsol domains only before they go through to the deletion process (during the regitrar-hold).

Once, they go to the redemption period they are in hands of the registry, like any other domain about to be deleted, absolutely no preference for SnapNames, any registrar can catch them.

Just be prepared to get into a bidding war if the domain name is worth something to someone else. Both pool and snapnames use an auction format...highest bidder wins.

I've used GoDaddy's backorder service once and got the domain name I was after, but it was already registered via WildWestDomains, their affiliate domain name entity, so I wonder if that played a factor.

I've used both pool and SN and won some, lost some. I'm 1 and 1 with GD, but I don't think they have as many connections to different registrars as the other 2.

Godaddy just take care of the catching once or twice a day.
Yesterday, I beat my own Godaddy backorder just by actively trying to register the name at enom each five minutes.

If it has no backlinks, then, I would be willing to call it obscure. If this domain has value to a small "niche" don't count that in the case of expiring, it will be "obscure".

As mentioned, snap and pool are free unless you actually get the domain. No reason not to do it since both have pretty good success rates.
