How do members feel about secondary TLDs for websites?

When you're faced with a choice between keyphrase.com or keyword.whatever, which do you typically choose?

What is a keyword.info or keyword.name worth to you compared to keyword.com? I don't just mean in the valuation of the name, but from a traffic standpoint.

Anyone?

For brand name protection, you get them all.

Well said. And if it's just traffic that you want, just get .com (for type-inns) plus (if budget allows) variations on your competitors' well-known names, so that some people that type in their names wrong end up with you.

It's not as easy as keyword.info vs. keyword.com in most cases. Widget.com in any common category will be taken, and if for sale, will be worth hundreds of thousands of dollar at least. keywordphrase.com will most likely be taken too, so that will be worth some thousands of dollars in most recognizable industries.

So, you have to weigh geting keywordphraseplusarandomword.com vs getting keyword.info or keyphrase.info.

In this new option, you have to think harder of how much traffic you can get from a long dot com, over a specific dot info. I have found that sometimes a .info will do the job better if well marketed. A specific .info can be marketed offline very well.

Imagine having a business card that says only www.Widgets.info. It's clear and easy to remember, specially if what people are looking for is Information.
