The final scoring result gave a slight advantage to VeriSign over Sentan, who were in order followed by Afilias, Denic and CORE

IMO, ICANN should award .net to the runner-up. It would reduce Verisign's monopolistic position and make them think twice about hijacking other people's traffic using services like Sitefinder.

Yes, I agree with you. Verisign's monopoly isn't healthy for the fair development of the domain field.

WOW, $6 per domain, per year for managing .net domains.. that was a huge profit margin.
