Private domain name, where to get them?

Are P.O.Boxes and cell phones allowed?

Question 1 -
I need to transfer my domain name soon and was simply going to go with PairNIC because im hosted at Pair. Then I came across godaddy offering private domain names. I don't even have an email address contact on my site much less my home phone number or address. It seems that PairNIC doesn't offer this private domain feature and I have heard a lot of mixed stories about godaddy and was hoping to get a chance to shop around at others that might offer private domain names. Price is the least of my concerns, reliability and good customer service is more important to me (why I use pair hosting in the first place).

Question 2 -
I was also wondering if I am allowed to use a P.O.Box when I register (thats what I am using now, shhh). If so, I can use my P.O.B. and maybe a tracfone for my phone number. Not that I want to recieve unsolicated mail in my P.O.B. either. You don't have to give out any real information with a tracfone, pretty much anonymous. So if I bought one for this purpose and just never answered it would I get in trouble and have my domain removed?

Question 3 -
I want to start a second website soon and I know pair allows multiple domains to point to one account but how does this work? Do you have to set it up in the .htaccess file somehow? If this is the wrong forum to post this to, please let me know where to post this last question.

You need to move your domain over at least 2 months before it is to expire. They won't let you move it when it is that close to transfer time. I could be wrong I just ran into this at network solutions and that was a year ago. Registrars try very hard to not let you leave.

Ogletree - I ran tinot that same problem a few years back with NetSol. I had the guy so confused he did not know his head from his ***. Anyway, I called back a few months later because I had a client needing to get away from them & the lady I spoke to told me that as long as it was still in the registration period - there was no 30 day notice!

But I still have my clients start the transfer early - just in case. because as the guy told me at NetSol - those emails to the new registrar (for some reason) just do not work!

I have several domains on GoDaddy, and haven't had any problem. I also use my home phone and address. I do get a fair amount of email spam from whois, only a little paper junk, and no phone calls.

P.O. Box should be fine. As far as I know, they only want you to be reachable, they don't need to know where you live, except maybe to verify what country you're in.

How to set up multiple domains depends on the host. I haven't used Pair. Technologically, the DNS settings for all domains point to the same server IP. Then the web server gets configured for name virtual hosting. They'll either give you that ability on the control panel, or they do it for you.

Sure, as long as its YOUR PO box, and YOUR phone number.
