Hi,
I will shortly be buying a set of domain names for my company, my-widget.com.
I will also buy mywidget.comit redirect to the actual my-widget.com webiste, in case someone types in teh nemae without hyphens. I will not have mulitiple sites, just a number of names directing to one site.

Am I likely to have any problems doing this?

If I was also able to buy thebestwidget.com store and direct to the site, would that cause a problem?

Thanks

Peter

Peter,

Most hosts will allow you to have multiple domains. All you have to do is change the name servers which they point to, and direct them all to your "home directory" with your current host. This way there is no redirecting of traffic, which can be damaging to your ranking in the SE's.

If you have multiple domains and one set of unique content, the only proper way to do it is to pick one domain name and have all the others redirect using a 301 Permanent Redirect to that main domain.

You can set them up on the same host, but each will need a 301 Permanent Redirect to the main one. If you do it any other way you risk getting all the domains banned in the search engines.
