Will this idea fly again?

Dictionary domain name lists....

Back in the boom days, I owned a web site that sold access to lists of dictionary domain names that were not yet registered, and the site did quite well. I eventually sold the web site, and the new owners let it go without updating it, so it lost all it's business.

I've spent the past few days playing around with a new mechanism that can generate essentially the same lists, and 7 years after I started the first site, I still don't see anyone offering similar lists. There are plenty of drop lists and expired lists, but not lists of unregistered dictionary names.

Am I missing something here? I know the name-flipping biz is not nearly what it used to be, but is there a market for such lists? I've been thinking of putting up a web site and once again selling access, but I thought I should ask the pros here first.

Do you think a site like this could fly again? Thanks...

I think it could. Jimmy it up with a hosting affiliate program and Robert's your mother's brother. :)

I thought all the dictionary names were gone.

Depends which dictionary, I guess...

There are definately names available. It seems that in the rush to buy expired and dropping names, people fail to look for names that are simply not registered. I don't know how good they are, but there are more available today than there were 3 years ago.

There are a fair amount of dictionary word .com names available, but they are pretty unatractive domain names for a website. )
Also there are a couple of freeware programs that will run large lists of words to check availability.
.com, .net, whatever you require...
