Someone from Verisoft, LLC sent the email.

It would have to be a lot more before I'd consider but it got me curious as to how these things are bought and sold. If one was serious about selling I imagine there are better ways to sell.

I don't do domain sale websites like Sedo or Afternic.

If you've got a desirable domain people reach out.

The trick is in knowing something about values and bargaining.

It really depends on the name. Some names are highly desired by only a handful of people for their specific purpose.

Other names have wide appeal. There are forums (DomainState DNForum) for example where you can sell the names but often these are often frequented by resellers so the price achieved and the speed of sale reflects this.

Most of the resellers at those forums hope for private email enquiries like yours :)

There are specialist domain selling sites like Sedo and Afternic, but you need to advertise your name on their boards and it may take a while before the buyer at the right price is found.

Some big Auction Sites like Ebay sell quite a few domains but there is often a lot of junk / unrealistic prices on them so serious buyers do not go there that often unless they have heard a specific name is for sale there.

We don't sell names but we get several enquiries to purchase them each month sometimes several a week.

The enquiries are often from anomymous web based email like yahoo or msn and range usually from a $yyy to $yyyy.

I didn't check the return address in properties until now. It was not from the company listed in the email but from Yahoo.

Makes me wonder what the scam is.

Sometimes they are looking to do a valuation for you. - For a fee.

I would tell them the domain is up for auctioning and you do have a price range set.

See if interest prevails with a higher counter offer.
