Starting my own domain name registration company?

I'm not sure where to start

I have been pondering this for a while, and I want to start my own domain name registration company, like www.godaddy.com or www.register.com. I dont have the slighest clue as where to start so I can start registerring domains. Do I need to register with a company inorder to start ordering domains? As you can tell I'm clueless and just need a place to start.

Being a reseller is probably the easiest way to go.
