Hello all. This is my first post here at webmasterworld though I have done some lurking the last few month's. Lots of good stuff here that is appreciated. I have a question about a domain I backordered through godaddy. The registrar is Tucows Inc. and the domain expired on 11/02/04. When checking the whois via godaddy's site the status was listed as "registrar hold" for over a month. I just checked it this morning and it now shows the status as "redemption period" Can anyone tell me what this means and guesstimate how much longer it will be until I might be able to secure the domain? Any other insights are welcome as well. Thanks!

The Redemption Period lasts for 30 days during which time the previous registrant can reactivate the domain for an additional fee.

After this time the domain will enter Pending Delete which lasts 5 days at which time the domain is dropped and perhaps you'll get lucky with GoDaddy, eNom, NameWinner, Pool, SnapNames, or other such drop sites.

Note: I'm assuming this is a .com/.net domain since the above can be different for other TLDs/ccTLDs.

Hold 30, Redemption 30, Pending Delete, Pending Delete Scheduled for Release.

Tucows can be a bit atypical with time marking. Don't set your clock by it. Just keep you eye on it.
