Weird DNS Issue

So, I did a nslookup and came up with the below info:

Name: ss01.mydomain.com
Address: 64.xx.xx.#*$! < same as www.mydomain.com

Name: mail.mydomain.com
Address: 69.xx.xx.xx

Name: www.mydomain.com
Address: 64.xx.xx.xxx

I contacted my Hosting company to have them delete ss01 from the A record. They told me there is no such ss01 DNS record. Can anyone tell me why? I don't have a subdomain set-up or anything. Not sure why it would show up.

The hosting company is probably using a wildcard for the subdomain, so any subdomain not given an explicit address (like mail.example.com has been given) will resolve to the same address as www.example.com (which is probably the same address as example.com resolves to)
