I've just received notice of a transfer request of my domain claiming to be from SSLcatacomb Networks dated today. A surprise since I have no intention of moving from my current hosts. The email states that if I don't respon then the transfer will not take place. But that leaves me with a few questions

1. Is the email an old template and that the new rules are actually going to be enacted?

2. Is this an email spam of some sort? Should I send a mail to the support email address asking what the hell is going on?

3. Why would anyone target my domain - it only gets about 10,000 uniques a day and just about covers my mortgage but no more?

[edit - changed wording in case I libel anyone]

I've locked 2 of my .com domains with the registrar so hopefully this will stop any possibility of transfer.

Unfortunately my registrar doesn't have a way of locking them, so I have to make sure I take my laptop with me to the conference next week and check my mail!

Once I get back I may move them elsewhere.

if you're registrar doesn't lock them for you i'd switch to a registrar that does.

it's likely that someone maybe trying to steal your domain. just make sure to lock your domain.
