Do .com's really transfer in five minutes?

Has Verisign really sped up the transfer process?

I remember how back in early September, Verisign said .com's would be transferred in about five minutes time. We've had a little over a month now to see if their claims came true . . . unfortunately, I haven't had any domains to transfer since then so I don't know firsthand if things have improved or not. So how about it - has anyone actually seen a .com transfer take place in just a few minutes?

Yes, they're now almost in real time. How soon it resolves still depends on 2
crucial factors, though:

1. How soon your registrar submits the changes to the Registry. Registrars like
NetSol does this in real time while others still do it via batches, though I'm not
sure who.

2. How soon your local ISP queries the root servers and updates their cache to
reflect the changes submitted by the Registry within 5 minutes after receipt of
changes from the registrar.

I've found the transfers to be near instantaneous for me. Less than 5 minutes usually. Sometimes it is 30 seconds. It is very fast now.
