I know hosting the site under a unique IP is the best strategy from SEO perspective but after recommending this to one my client, I came across two options Unique Physical IP/ Unique Public IP.
Can anyone please help me understand the difference between these two IPs and suggest the best from SEO.

Thanks in advance,
Shabir

I may be wrong, and if so somebody should chime in here, but...

Unique Physical IP is the actual IP of the machine. In some cases, a public IP can be assigned to a gateway that in turn can point to a range of physical IPs on an internal network. Physical IPs can be part of an external or internal network. This would include all IP ranges set aside for inernal networks (ie. 10.#*$!.xxx.xxx or 192.168.xxx.xxx)

Unique Public IP. Is an actual IP that can be accessed by the public. This would include all IPs except for the 10.xxx.xxx.xxx or 192.168.xxx.xxx which are reserved for internal networks.

I think you would want a unique public IP which would be part of their public IP block.

Is this right?

I never heard of physical IP. You need to be only concerned with public IP, as this is how the site is found by the outside world.

The only thing I can remotely think of that a "unique physical IP" may be is that they may do one IP per network adapter or MAC address.

But that would be odd, as the MAC address is seen only by the local switching equipment.

I would ask them what they mean by each of those options. If you can get a bit more detailed for us, we'll help you with the SEO benefits of each.
