having 100 domains to same page?

Hello webmasters,

thats my first post but from now i ll be with you guys reading and if i can add my comments to some topics.

Now my question is:

if i have a 100+ site with content and buy 100 domains and link them all to the same site. Will this bring something to me or is that just useless?

I sometimes hear that some big companies buy 1000愀 of domains for promotion, whats the purphose of this?

It is not spamming because there is no real benefit to it. Big companies might buy a bunch of domains for different offline advertising adventures. The only reason you would ever want more than one domain is if the other domain/domains had backlinks that your site can not get. A site with no backlinks at all or just brand new is worthless if you already have a site with pr and backlinks. Googlel does not care about tactics that don't do anything. There was a thread that postulated that sites get a 0.25 pr with no backlinks and that if you had thousands of them and had them point to one domain that domain would get some PR. I don't believe this.

We acquire all domains with our brand names and point them to the major site. Never been a problem.
We own 18,000 brands.

Oh yeah I forgot about that. You have to buy the domains if you have lots of brand names. You don't want some idiot to buy domains and put something you don't want on them. Those things get lots of type in traffic. G will decide which domain is the main one and PR0 the others. It is done all the time. I was just talking about SEO.

The one that says "this has permanently moved".

Sure there is a beneift, you are upping your chance of someone typing in your domain name. The value of this from a business standpoint is questionable.
