I mad e teh mistake of havin used a diffrent domain name register thingy than my usual, forgot about a domain it dropped and was snapped up.

Its now on sale for $850. Im I sick or what?

Lesson here for all me thinks.

That's really bad luck EB.

Did they not e-mail you?

I usually get bombarded with spam from other registrars when domains come up to renewal time.

Spam that actually has some use - a handy reminder.

So your domain was dead for 30 days and you didn't notice that?
Renewal email or not, you must have not have checked the site very often.
Most registrars have a redemption period. For example enom will let me grab back a domain for $7-$10 even once it expires within 30 days.

If your old domain is still important to you, go register every other TLD for it so no one else will find much value in the keyword. Then wait a year and hope the current owner will value it less after a year with no decent offers. Otherwise find a new branding possibly - might be alot cheaper than $850.

So your domain was dead for 30 days and you didn't notice that? - The name was in 'storage' and not developed I was thinking about building a site.
