Quick story: I was interested in registering a domain for my project and made whois for it several times. Then someone bought it and put it on sale ($10k) right away. My friend told me that it's because this guy knew that whois queries were made.

Now... domain expires in a few days (July, 13) and I hope he won't renew it... what should I do?

greetings,

Ummm. Find a registrar which allows you to "hold" or "backorder" a domain in case it isn't renewed?

[Actually, I advise against this. Develop another domain name which is fully as referential as the one the gob is trying to get $10k for (SHEESH!), and let the "thief" (he's not really a thief....) sit on it.... It is ALWAYS better to do your own original originality thing, even if you have to begin AGAIN at square one to do so; or in football parlance, "back up 10 yards and punt".]
