I'm not going to reveal the sites domain name
i checked with sunny.nic.com and checked this domain out to see the contact details and the registrant is Web Master and the contact info is hello@hotmail.com
This is obviously wrong, but is this illegal?

Hi SargentJazza & welcome to WebmasterWorld!

digitalv's reply in this thread [webmasterworld.com] has some interesting info regarding false WHOIS data.

Here is another thread. Not necessarily illegal. A better question is whether your domain can be hijacked if it has false information.

The reason many people dont list their real email is because of spam problems. I own a website and I have some of my personal information unlisted because of spam issues.

There is nothing illegal about it as far as I know but I am far from an expert. I use the Alexa toolbar with the fast who-is drop down menu and I have noticed that a lot of sites dont list owner information. I guess as long as you are paying your yearly fees they dont care.

Did you try looking on the website itself for contact information?

Um, the contact information I can agree with but it's more of the Registrants "name" I'm wondering about.
Is it legal to say that you are someone you arn't in WHOis
