Hi Webmasterworld members,

First of all: Great site!

Hopefully someone can help me with the following problem:

I found an .co.uk domain, which is owned by a UK Company. The company is dissolved and the domain has still the registrant entry of the company.

Now my question:
Is there any way to get this domain?

Thanks,

Theodor

You will need to talk to nominet and appraise them of the situation.

There should be contact details at [nic.uk...]

If the company is in liquidation you may need to contact the liquidator and make an offer for the domain name.

...owned by a UK Company. The company is dissolved...

When UK companies are disolved their UK domain names (if not previously sold) pass to the Crown as "bona vacantia" (ownerless goods). The Treasury Solicitor then tries to auction them off - they have a website that lists about 20 names.

The minimum bid is 500 pounds, plus VAT, plus a 250 pounds fee etc. Few if any of the names they list are worth that much.
