I am getting plenty of bounces again suggesting some person is starting up or a new virus is starting to take hold. A domain I own has been added to banned lists at various US ISPs as a result of this before and so far nothing I have been able to prove has removed this ban.
So starting again I am planning to take some limited action as I only know about the emails that are bounced, I have no idea of the ones that get through.
Its about time something could be done about this - does anyone agree?
Anyhow so my message to abuse@whicheverisp something like this? comments anyone ...
Including example or examples of the problem email inc all headers.
To the ISP behind the originating email ..
Please be advised that I am receiving a number of bounces regarding abusive or infected email in which the from address was fraudulently created to suggest it was being sent from a domain which I own or am responsible for managing.
None of these emails was sent from people who are legitimately connected with these domains and yet one of my domains has to my knowledge been added in error to a banned list at a major ISP meaning that their users cannot receive genuine email from my domain or surf to the legitimate web sites that exist on these domains.
The abusive user identified at this (YOUR) ISP is in part responsible for this damage to the reputation of my domain and of those I am involved with managing.
Please ensure this abuse via your ISP services ceases and does not simply restart under a new account.

Dear Sir,
Thank you for taking the time to write to us, but we did not actually see your email because your emails are banned from our systems.

Its amazing how many ISP's really have no clue, and simply join some non-discriminitory ban list to do their work for them.
Your email looks fine to me, though at the very end you might put a 'call to action' telling them EXACTLY what you want them to do next, in laymens terms. I'm not sure a standard ISP 'tech support' person will understand, and reaching the upper levels takes some extra work (ahhh, the good old days, when you could write to root@domain.com and know some geek at the top would get your email).
There must be something searchable on this board about the subject.
