I have tried doing a whois for a particular domain. The registrar is listed as stargateinc.com. Their whois always returns an error of some type. This happens regardless of whether I do the whois somewhere else or right at their own website. Does anyone happen to know if their whois normally works? (I don't know of any other domains registered through them, so I can't really check it with different domains)

it's working for me , they're blocking the service for a lot of other whois services like **** to prevent the mass access to the database and godaddy also do the same

Thanks for letting me know. I realized that their own domain is probably registered with them. The whois works okay for me on that domain. The one I am interested in still returns an error.
I'm not sure what stargate's redemption period is (does anyone know this?), but the domain is nearing 30 days past the expiration date. That may be related, but I am pretty sure the whois has been returning errors since before the domain expired.
