I recently started a LLC and registered the .com and .net addresses.
Now a person comes along and knowingly registeres the same domain .org.
He has it pointed to a web site that does pretty much the same thing that my new LLC is doing.
I have not trade marked the name yet, so is there legal course for me?
Also this person knows everyone involved in this new LLC, and purposely is point people in the .org to him, he did this same thing with another non company name I had registered.
Thanks for your time
Of course the question is if you should even worry about a .org. Nobody goes to .org domains.
It seems to me that you only have trouble if he is lying to people to get them to come to the .org and making them think it's you. The last part of your description implied something like this but wasn't clear.
You might be able to fight him and get domain back, but will cost you around $1500 to file case, which you might be able to collect if you win.
I own a number of videogame related domains, all of them .com, and there are several individuals that own identical names of .net and .org.
We all do very similar things.
What I love, is that 2 of the sites do what I do better and have massive followings. I do very little, but I benefit from the accidental traffic...lots of their users people type in .com by mistake, long before the .org or .net. So I'm getting free traffic.
Just something to consider.
