Someone has the same domain name to mine

but with the .au suffix - should I be concerned?

I've recently just launched a new site, www.example1-example2.com, and have been checking the allinurl to see what pages have been indexed.

Almost immediately Google grabbed my index page, and for about a week that was all that was returned. All of a sudden I'm seeing a second URL being returned going by the name of www.example1-example2.com.au - in other words, exactly the same address as mine, but with the extension .au

The web address is redirected to a (sort of) related website, and from some digging I see that they have numerous other similar redirects in action.

The .au was registered just a couple of weeks after I registered my .com address.

I'm not worried about what they do, as I'm targetting a different audience, but does anyone know of any negative impact the similarity of their URL could have on mine? I would suggest that I'd be the beneficiary of any URL typo's between our addresses so that's not a concern either.

Thanks,

If it's clearly not your site, don't worry about it.

Especially if they're not in competition with you.

there's a company that owns the .com.hk version of one of my .com's (we're in different industries, so I don't think either of us are bothered), the only odd thing i've noticed is that alltheweb shows their back links when i do the link:www.mydomain.com search.....google treats them correctly...

Thanks for the reassurance guys. It was just a bit disconcerting to see that the domain was registered just after mine. Google and I are going through a rocky patch right now so I'm trying to be extra careful about things with this new site.
