Two Word Domain - First/Last Characters

Perhaps not the world's most Earth shattering topic, but I'd like some opinions.

Looking ahead to future projects, I'm considering registering a domain name which is two words -- a four-letter works and a nine-letter word for a total of 13 characters. In this case, the last letter of the first word is s and the first letter of the 2nd word is also s. For example:

****ssxxxxxxxx

(For some reason I'm unable to make this post appear with x's as the placeholders for the letters instead of astericks.)

The dot com version of this URL is available.

I just think it looks funny and may be hard to read. I'm thinking a hyphen between the two words might actually be preferable in this case?

Any thoughts?

Whenever I purchase a domain I tend to get both the hyphenated as well as the non hyphenated.

I would optimize for buy-widgets.com and have buywidgets.com fwd to buy-widgets.com, for type in or referral traffic.

My idea behind it is that I can Optimize for "buy widgets" and still make it easy for people to tell each other: "go to buy widgets.com and order it" instead of "go to buy hyphen widgets.com and order it"

So, if it is in your budget I would just buy them both.

I agree that it looks funny and people will have a hard time spelling it correctly. does it have one s or two? Therefor the hyphenated version will work best. besides it will work better for search engines also.

I hadn't considered the search engine aspect.

Yes, it has 2 s's. The first word ends in an s because it is possessive such as joe's sidgets. So my idea is either joessidgets or joes-sidgets.

Kris, I would also suggest what werty says. The Best Option.
