Problem with changing DNS at Netsol

Before I contact Network Solutions, I'd thought I'd post here first to see if anyone has had this problem before.

My client wants to change the DNS servers for their domain name. They've given me their Network Solutions account number and password so I can do this for them. I am able to login successfully into Network Solutions' account manager.

In the account manager, I've changed the DNS servers and saved these changes. So far, everything looks good.

Minutes later, when I log back into the account manager or check the domain record via Network Solutions WHOIS, it shows the previous DNS servers, _not_ the DNS servers I've entered.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

NetSol doesn't update their whois for 24+ hours, their database is not realtime.

Just like propragation you are going to have to wait 24-48 hours to see real changes.

Wouldn't the DNS changes be seen at least in the Network Solutions account manager when I login?

Forgot to add: I changed the DNS servers on Sunday. I thought the DNS changes should be visible by now.

Not only should they be visible, they should be beginning to propagate by now. Also, in my experience, the new DNS numbers should show up immediately in the control panel - I just did this a couple of weeks ago and I am almost sure that was the case.

Something is not working properly - that much I am sure of.

Not true anymore. Updates usually happen within minutes at NetSol now.

MG and the original posters are right. Something's out of whack today.

Argh! I am having the EXACT same problem. I have a customer that needs to change DNS servers, so I logged into their netsol account manager, added myself as a technical contact and proceeded to change the DNS servers. Everything looked fine and I logged out figuring it would be a while until the root servers were updated, DNS cache expired throughout the net, etc. That was yesterday afternoon - around 3:00 PM EST I think.

Well, I logged back in this morning to make sure that everything looked OK, and I found that the original DNS servers were back. So, I once again changed them and once they looked right, I logged out. This time, just to make sure, I logged back in right away and found the original DNS servers back again! Well, needless to say, I was a bit perplexed. I probably tried 3 or 4 more times thinking that I must have done something wrong, but the results are always the same. I just contacted netsol about the problem, but I was wondering if anyone here knows what's up since I have no idea when I'll hear back from them - or if it will even be helpful when I do.

Thanks in advance.

Tim,

This is a strange solution but it came directly from Network Solutions' customer support.

After logging into the account manager, you have to change the DNS servers to "NSI Managed Name Servers." Then, logout of the account manager. Next, log back into the account manager and change the DNS servers to whatever servers you want them to be.

Yes, I know this solution is strange and ridiculous. But it works.

Well, I actually almost tried that on my own, but I was afraid that I might end up with them stuck as NSI Managed, so I didn't do it. Anyway, I finally just called netsol and talked to one of their customer service reps who had apparently been handling a lot of calls regarding this problem. She said that she had a workaround and indeed had them fixed in a few minutes. I didn't bother to ask what exactly she had done, but I would bet bet it was the procedure you just described.

Thanks for the quick reply though!

Netsol fixed all their problems with DNS so you should not have any more issues.

I have some channels into Networksolutions so let me know if there are any problems.
