Hey,

I'm conducting a survey and I've determined that as of a couple of weeks ago retail domain registration prices were as follows:

Company - 1 Year .Com Registration - Fee Notes
Bigfoot - $4.95
EV1Servers - $5.00
1&1 Internet Inc. - $5.99 - Web Site says 'Coming Soon'
Hostway - $6.95 - Includes Domain Parking
Web.com - $6.95 - Includes 1 Page Site
GoDaddy - $7.95 - Transfers are $6.95
Aplus.Net - $7.95
RegisterFly - $9.99
NameSecure - $15.00
Interland - $16.00
Verio - $19.00
Register.com - $35.00
Network Solutions - $35.00

Does anyone know if there are any cheaper registrars out there?

Are there other registration options under $7 for a 1 year .com?

Thanks for your help on this!

Things to look out for.

I got into this with names4ever.com ($7.95) as of today but check this out this is #7

"Transfers. CLIENT understands that he will be prohibited from changing his Registrar during the first 60 days after initial registration of the domain name with REGISTRAR and during the last 60 days before renewal of the domain name with Registrar."

I could not xfer out because I was into the last 60 days - not a happy camper on that one.

This is standard policy with most if not all registrars.

Actually, the standard in the industry is not to allow transfers of a Domain which has been registered, transfered, or had the registrant contact changed for a period of 60 days after, or 10 (TEN) days before renewal date.

To cut off transfers 60 days before renewal is way out of line. Might want to talk to ICANN.

notice everything in this tread is for the states, I am in the uk and the best place to get names i know of is Bladehost.net who's after sales service seems 2nd to none with my experience, .com are £7 and co.uk are £6 so this may not be as cheap as some of the other companys mentioned here but there after sales does it for me. and no i dont work for them just a happy customer

Well with godaddy it is 10 days. Every xfer I have made the xfering company states you must be 10 or 15 (don't remember)days from expiration - not 60. So on that transfer I ate the xfer fee and to rub salt in the wound I had to re-register with them again, another 10 point rise in the ole blood pressure just thinking about it again.

Hi

What I'm looking for is a domain name registrar that will accept other payment other than credit card as I don't use credit cards

Something that is reliable and under $10 yr

Powerful reliable Host too

Something too for adult sites as I may build one too

Is there like a consumer reports type place for these?

I tried Godaddy.com but they wouldn't sell me one because I didn't have a CC

Thanks

Alan
