Hi everybody,

Say a young international company decides they want to host multiple websites, each containing localized content for specific countries. The company can only afford one webhosting account at this stage.

They have decided to use the domain widgets.com as the actual domain to host in their web account.

The company also owns the equivalent .co.uk and .de domain names. Can all of these be hosted on the same account as the .com using subdomains somehow?

The web hosting account uses CPanel 6.
Can the .co.uk name be directed to a subdomain like [uk.widgets.com,...] without having to pay a URL forwarding fee? If this works I will place a redirect page under that subdomain to point to widgets.com/uk/
Same thing for getting to widgets.com/de/

Would this work?

Ta,
Stephen

It depends on a lot of technical questions on the host.

Q1: CPanel is supported on a lot of platforms. What is the ISP server : IIS, Apache?
Q2: Does the hosting company use virtual hosting or does each customer get their own IP-number?
Q3: If the ISP is using Apache, can you edit the .htaccess files?
Q4: Do you know whether you can do third-level domains on the ISP server? ie is [domain.com...] and [domain.com...] the exact same?
