Domain name transfer process

Hello fellow webmasters,

I have one quick question concerning the domain name transfer.
I have a domain name that I own and it'll be expired soon, so I'm transferring and renewing that domain at the moment. I've requested the transfer and I've gotten an email that requests my approval from the company/server/hosting that I want my domain name to be parked/registered. And I have aprroved it by clicking the url link given in the email.

Today, I received an email from registerapi.com - requesting my approval for the domain transfer. And since I had approved the domain transfer in the last email - the one that I had initiated -, why would I need to give another approval? Could that be someone else bidding on my domain name and wanting it transfered to him/her?

How do I find out who's bidding on my domain name? And how long does it usually take to transfer a domain name?

registerapi.com is dotster.

They are most likely just confirming the transfer. Usualy you receive one email from the losing registrar and one from the gaining registrar asking you to confirm.

Lisa just beat me to it.
the transfer can take anywhere up to 7 days.

yes, I have received an email from the losing registrar and I have approved it. but the email doesn't mention what the gaining registrar is. it just says eNom, inc.

Are you transfering from Dotster to eNom? If you are.... Well I don't think it will go through as easy as it should. I have talked to Dotster about this and they were rejecting all transfers because of one eNom reseller. So you may want to email Dotster support and let them know you are transfering to eNom so they can manually flag the transfer.

IF your transfer goes through just fine let us know, I would like to know when Dotster fixes its system.

RegisterFly is a eNom reseller and a very large one at that. So yes, it should be ok.

If you accidental approve a transfer..... well you are not in a good spot. So don't ever do that! eNom I know actually keeps a copy of the orginal whois prior to transfer, They save this copy forever. So they would be able to verify a claim. As to if they would do anything is another story. The liability of turning over a name to an orginal owner may be risking. What if you had sold the name and now you got the name back with this trick. See what I am saying. Never approve a transfer unless that is a registrar you just transfered too.
