The company has registered ncsuk.com. NCSUK = my business name.
Do I have any rights to the name at all? Also the .co.uk is registered I believe by someone else. Just wondering if I have a leg to stand on so to speak.
The domain name was registered after my business was setup so technically (in my banks eyes I guess) NCSUK is mine. I dont own it as a tradmark though and wouldnt want to because its just a set of letters.
What should I do :(
In the case of the quoted .COM domain (you'll find the URL will be removed shortly as posting it is a breach of terms) this appears to be owned quite legitimately by another company to whom the acronym is relevant. This being the case, I believe you would struggle if you tried to get this domain via the dispute policy - the current owner is using the domain quite legitimately.
The .CO.UK varient is detagged, which means that although it still legally belongs to the person who registered it initially, it is likely to be made available for sale in the future. How long this might take is undeterminable.
In this position, I'd be tempted to look for an alternative set of domains to purchase. As the .COM contains a business website, I doubt they'd be interested in selling it - unless you offered a considerable amount. I'd certainly look for an available alternative.
