I did a quick scan on the forum but I only went back a few pages and couldn't see a specific answer.
I have 2 domains that I am selling but I have only a limited knowledge of what is involved. As far as I can tell:
.co.uk domain
1)I get the cheque of the buyer (This is a private sale)
2)I complete the nominet transfer form and send it with a covering letter to the buyer.
3)The buyer sends it to nominet with another covering letter.
.com domain
1)I get the cheque
2)I manually change the domain contact and ownership details online with my registrar.
3)that's it?
But what do I do with the domain that are in the control panel with my registrar? Do I change the IPSTAG to the buyers registrar or does my registrar take over at some point?
Any advice appreciated.

You can push domains from 1 account to another very easily.
alternatively request a tag change "but only" when funds have cleared and name has been transferred according to the Nominet whois.

The .com domain is with a different registrar than the .co.uk and I only have that one domain with them. So I think I will just give the username and password and let them do it all themselves.
The .co.uk is with easily who I have a few domains with so I can't give up the account for that one.
I'll look into nthe 123Reg but I guess they would want me to extend the domain name when transferring to themselves and I don't want to spend any more cash than I have to.
BTW, do you know if there are any fees involved in the sale. Apart form the buyer paying me, of course ;)

Easily.co.uk are a very good registrar, might be worthwile getting your client to sign up for an account with them, and then request a transfer into his/her account.
anyway you are on the right track, and hopefully all should go well.

Just one quick thing, I've got to put this all down into a document for my director and the buyer. Can you take a quick look at this and let me know if you think this covers all the bases?
Company 1: is us.
Company 2: is the buyer.
"Details for domain transfers to COMPANY 2.
domain: xxxxxxxxxxx.co.uk
1: COMPANY 1 to complete Nominet Transfer Form and send with letter to COMPANY 2
2: COMPANY 2 to complete Nominet Transfer Form and send with letter to Nominet.
3: Once Nominet have updated their records COMPANY 1 will amend the domain's IPSTAG to transfer full control of the domain to COMPANY 2.
domain: xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com
1: COMPANY 1 to advise domain registrar of change of ownership.
2: Registrar account details forwarded to COMPANY 2 by COMPANY 1.
3: COMPANY 2 will have full control of the domain.
The transfer process will only start when payment has been cleared as once it has begun, there is very little to stop it.
As a mark of good faith, COMPANY 1 will "point" the domains to the www.xxxxxxx.com website on receipt of their cheque. This is does not mean the transfer is complete and COMPANY 1 will retain full ownership of the domains until the full process outlined above is complete.
