I have been waiting for a specific detagged .co.uk domain to be available for seven months! Anyone know how long Nominet's waiting list is now?

only 7 months? i've been waiting for some names for over 2 years .... just don't hold your breath ...

Nominet currently have over 750,000 domains in detagged status and are currently in the middle of a big project to free them up. They are now running very large drop scripts on at least a weekly basis and hope to have the bulk of this "detagged mountain" cleared this year.
Watch for when your desired domain goes into "SUSPENDED" status, that means that the deletion cycle is on the home straight, it will usually be deleted within around 8 weeks of it going suspended.
