After getting listed in Yahoo and DMOZ my next goal looks like it should be Zeal. I have a username for Zeal but the category I want to submit to doesn't allow it. Is there a resource-zone equivalent for Zeal? I would like to read more about zeal so if you have any tips and hints you would like to share please do.

Maybe the choosen category is a commercial one.
Zeal allows only submissions of not commercial sites: for example you can not submit to regional categories or travel related categories.

Have you passed the test that allows you to submit to Zeal. If you have then there should be no problem, providing as Ang points out it is not a commercial section/site. I have had a good amount of success with Zeal and a quick turn around time. Simply find the best Cat (after a certain amount of submitals you can edit/add cats) and submit according to the guidelines. Sometimes expect some changes to your description, this is just the way it is depending on the editor above you. But a good link is a good link and I have found the descriptions used here migrate to other engines, so I think it is worthwile if no one else does.

I also look for the best ranking Cat, maybe this has no affect but I would prefer to be in a 5 than a 2 or 3.

Cheers

The section is marked commercial, but the site would be considered non-commercial. Yahoo listed the site when I used Free submit, so I am certain the site is a good one. But the zeal category that is the best fit only except commercial. One of the main problems is that the category is totally unfocused, it could really be multiple categories and cleaned up a lot. I dropped a note in the category message board but no one has read it since I did that last week. Should I just give up on Zeal or should I talk with someone there? How do you go about contacting someone higher.

I would try looking around a little more - there are sometimes noncommercial subcats within commercial categories, or ones in related subject areas that are open to submissions. Also, there's a local/regional directory that's largely noncommercial. Good luck...

Lisa - I'm probably not active in your cat, but I can take a look around for you and see what's up. Go to Zeal and send a message to me (Same name here as on Zeal). In the message, paste link to the cat you THINK it belongs in and then paste a link to the site you are trying to add. I'll see if I can find a better cat or at least give you some options.
