It isn't quite as cut and dried as the title implies.

I submitted the update url form last week for a site that has changed it's url recently. All I changed in the form was oldurl.com to newurl.com and gave the reason for the change.

So, when searching oldurl.com in dmoz it shows the cat and the listing below as always BUT, when I click on the cat the site isn't actually listed there any more. When I search newurl.com nothing comes up.

I just don't understand why the cat listing has gone missing yet still comes up when I search for oldurl.com. I would assume this means the changes are in the works and I should just wait a little longer but I was just wondering if anyone had any input.

It means that the searchable index has not yet been updated to reflect the change. If the new URL does not appear in the category, the re-review may have resulted in the site getting transferred to a different category (live or in unreviewed) if the editor, upon re-reviewing the site felt it was a better match for a different category.

thanks skibum,

url went into another cat, wandered around and found it based on your response. Went up a couple levels. It seems the search index is just not updated.

thx again

You're welcome, jatar_k - Glad to hear it reappeared and didn't get moved to unreviewed!
