What is it with ODP lately?

Once again, ODP says it contains 2500 or so pages at the bottom of the homepage. Okay, we know it is wrong, but why doesn't somebody fix these things???

The display of that number there is really of no inherent value.

As far as I can recall, the counter has *always* been buggy. That is, any new tool tested or added to the system has the side effect of messing up with the site count.

So OK, now you know that when the counter displays odd results it is likely that some improvements are being made editing-side ;)
