Does AOL Search use ODP

If you go to AOL and see how to submit a site, it says that their search engine uses ODP.

One of my sites is found with AOL search, but the description matches my META tags, not the description from its listing in ODP.

A second site of mine can not be found with AOL search, though it too is listed in the ODP directory.

Both of these sites can be found in the AOL directory (which is the ODP directory).

So what does AOL's search engine use for its source?

Currently INK, soon to be Google [webmasterworld.com].

That would be great as my pages come out at the top of the search results with Google.

However, do you understand why the AOL sites says that it uses ODP for its search results?

Also about INK... I assume you mean Inktomi. If so, I believe that you can not submit to them for free so I doubt my sites would ever be listed with them.

What is the best way to see where you stand in Inktomi's search results?

I agree with what you are saying about how AOL search works, but it appears that their description is wrong:

"We search the best and most likely sources of relevant information. We start with:

1. Select sites within AOL and around the Web, chosen by our editors.

2. The Open Directory Project, which features about three million sites on AOL and the rest of the Web. They are selected, reviewed and organized by tens of thousands of subject experts.

3. If those sources don't contain what you requested, AOL Search searches the full text of over 150 million pages.

If the above were correct, their search engine would find my site that is listed in their (ODP) directory.

Quite. And it's been brought up repeatedly since late last year, but nothing's been done to correct the misinformation. :(
