ODP: Content vs. Affiliate Links

What ratio is acceptable?

My site has a great deal of affiliate links, but I am attempting to reorganize my site to include educational content. How many affiliate links per page would ODP consider reasonable?

Thanks for your input

That really, really depends upon who is reviewing the site. There is no hard-and-fast rule, but the rule of thumb is that something like this: the informational value must outweight the affiliate value.

And best to be upfront; if it's fairly marginal, being suspected of sneakiness will usually decide it. Against you!

Editors try to take a 'wholistic view' - there's usually little doubt if a site is an interesting oone, that sells things - or a sales site with window dressing.

If you have a genuine interest in what you are selling, I doubt you'll have a problem.

Sincerity shows, fake that and you're made (Again, I can't think who I'm misquoting. Groucho? Woody Allen?)

Google says: "The secret of success is sincerity. Once you can fake that, you've got it made." --JEAN GIRAOUDOUX (Who s/he)

You should also note that the key word is original rather than educational. ;)

Laisha's rule of thumb is right. Only in the Adult areas are there really specific rules about this (as far as I know).
