How long should it take to get listed on the ODP thru dmoz.org? I submitted a site in January, resubmitted a week ago and still nothing.

Granted the text/functionality of the website can be very confusing (it's now changing), but the general concept is very clear. The suggested descriptions are spot on relevant and not sales hyped at all. Site itself is spam free - until now at least :-)

I assume there is just a backlog in that category (Business: Consulting: Referral Services), and that pestering them would not be helpful. Any input appreciated thanks.

And great community all. Recently found, already an addict and hope to contribute soon.

Hi Tigrou

Welcome to WmW :)

I've found it can be anywhere between 1 week to 3 months, does the section your submitting to have an editor that’s normally a good starting point if there's no editor it could take sometime to get a listing

We do have a few editors here so hopefully they can help you

Welcome, Tigrou.

The answer depends upon a lot of things, but I've found that the most important indicator is the category.

If it's a small regional listing -- say, Brownsville/Texas, as opposed to Texas -- I would start worrying about it in a month.

If it's a web design site, I wouldn't start thinking about it again for 6 months (though I've seen submissions as old as a year in that category).

Are there other changes being made in the category? If not, then there is a good chance that no one's been in to review it. If it has been changed lately, then I might start worrying.

Like they said, theres not set time limit. Some pages I havn't seen added for up to six months! Some I get lucky and it only takes a few days.

Thanks all,

done my homework and yes indeed there is a editor. He has about 30 categories to his name totalling about 100,000 entries (mostly religious sites)

Sigh, I guess it is just backlog.

I assume it is a very big no-no to bug him via email. So aside from hoping humans still exist by the time he gets to mine, I'll offer incense and diskettes to Jobu, my friendly digital spirit.

Can't hurt.

Tigrou I wouldn't frett abut emailing an editor, I have done many times and always recieved a timely response. I would leave it until four weeks after the last submission and then drop a friendly email.
