Hi Guys!

I am really excited about the open directory project, I love surfing the internet, and I would really like to become an editor. Twice now my applications have been rejected. Are there any hints, tips, secrets you guys could pass on??

Thanks! Sarah

Welcome auroraline!

With a little luck:), its really easy to get accepted in to ODP.

1) Pick one of the smallest categories you can find in which you have an interest. It may be best to pick one in which your own site will not fit initially.

2) Find 3 quality sites that are not currently present in the directory that are apporpriate for the category.

3) Create a title (the name of the site or company - no tag lines, no extra keywords, no editorializing, nothing but the name of the site or company)

4) Create a description for the site - about 20 words, no hype, no ALL CAPS, no punctuation other than periods and commas.

5) Repeat 3 and 4 for each of the 3 sites you submit on the app.

6) Run your app through the spell checker on Word or similar program.

7) Don't put your own site among the 3 on the app. (You can, but remember you are applying to be an editor not to list one particular site)

8) Be honest about your affiliations.

9) Check everything and submit.

That's about all you can do and if you pick a category that is small, and isn't terribly prone to spam, you've got a good chance to get in.

Thanks for the input!

Are there any catagories where they really need help? A place where I would get more likely to get picked than another?
