:) It's Sunday, and unlike the normal message how DMOZ is busy to try again I am now greeted with:

The Open Directory search is temporarily unavailable. Please try back later

:) oh My what to do!

Don't worry, this happens a lot. The database is still available to all the engines that use odp data.

Actually, that's not exactly true. Those using live data are affected and get the same message those searching ODP get.

It's now Monday morning and the OPD search is still MIA

Maybe some big changes when everything works again - or did MS really buy them and are dealing the orders as we speak!

OK, it's finally back up BUT when it was down and you tried a search it said the search database was updated Saturday the 13th and NOW when you do a search it says the database was updated Monday the 8th - the date that it was updated previously before it went down.

It's important to me b/c our site isn't searchable yet, but should've been in the 13th's update. :-(

Anyone know what gives?

Maybe a database became currupted so they had to revert back to a older one.

Just remember that the ODP search is mainly for editor use, and is rarely used by data users. So it won't hurt your performance at Google or anything if ODP search is down.

We just got in ODP, so we're not in Google yet.

We've had a few people a day find us via ODP by browsing the directory, so I'm curious as to what the results will be when we're searchable.

Any idea on how long it takes for Google to update their directory section?
