I just had a site added about a week ago but it has disappeared now - although it's in the Google directory. Is this normal or could it have been removed from the directory (I did submit it to another category a while ago when it hadn't appeared in my first choice category after a month)

When you say it's disappeared, do you mean you've surfed into the category it was in and it's no longer there? Or that you can't find it in an ODP search?

Both surfed in and looked and searched for it. It's no longer there

I'm worried that when an editor saw my submission to another category he/she decided I was cheating and deleted the already accepted entry

No site is guaranteed a listing, and nothing is guaranteed to stay once it is listed.

I'm not angry at the ODP - I like the idea of the Open Directory project- it's just I was really happy to get the listing last week and I think it was in the right place. I guess I would just like to figure out why - it must be quite serious to actually remove a site.

It's happened to me a few times, it was always because the site was being moved to a diffrent cat. Give it a couple of weeks, if it doesn't resurface then drop the editor an email.

It would be nice if I could find an active editor in any design category (ODP)! I searched every day for our company name there used to be 8 now there are only 5 matches and ours is not one of them. So it sounds like some sites are being deleted. The frustrating thing is I have managed to get all our Clients in!

In case anyone reads this topic again I thought I should say that my site was included back in the ODP but with a different title and description - but I don't know when this was done because I've been searching on the site name/url and it doesn't appear with that - the title is now the page title of the index page (which is cool).
Anyway, I've been restored to the happiness I felt 6 weeks ago when it first got in and the ODP still rules for me!
