Been to WebCrawler lately? They are running a "directory". Click on some links and it comes up with uncommented Overture (goto) results. At the bottom of those results pages is a standard "banner" for the ODP.

Or are those really ODP listings running through a Overture click through counter? hmmm
This looks very suspect and misleading to me. I'd think it would be false advertising? Makes the ODP look like they could be charging for listings. Someone needs to give WebCrawler "what for"...

Not too mention the home page form is invisible in some browsers.

The Featured listings are Overture for sure - can't quite figure out how they are generating them for which terms etc. The Site Recommendations are absolutely ODP but sorted differently. If you submit a site it takes you to an Overture sign up page.

These guys need go give their head a shake. They've basically become simply an affiliate for Overture and adding in the RDF dump. That's nothing alot of us here couldn't do and do it better.

They must have realized that the DMOZ banner was a huge faux pas and have removed it ... at least I am not seeing it there now. However, they are (like Excite) being sleezy about not identifying PPC sites at the top of the serps.

That really ticks me off! At least to Overture's credit, they make it very clear which are the paid results and which are not. Why can't their clones be as forthcoming?
