Free listing

I looked at the stats of one of our clients sites and noticed a high number of referrals coming from looksmart UK and MSN UK. Obviously my next thing to do was to check the two directories. And to my amazement LS have listed the site, this has definately been done for free. In addition they have been listed under a good description. Which acheives good positions in the results for high traffic phrases.

Has anyone else ever experienced this!

Yes, I have a few free listings in Looksmart. Their editors will add links to flesh out their categories from time to time. I assume that BTLooksmart is doing the same. Congrats!

Is that site commercial or not commercial?

If it is not commercial it could be added by a Zeal editor.

Mine are commercial, banners and affiliate/sponsor buttons clearly visible. The sites have some good general-use information as well (travel guides).

Maybe LS editors are not having too much submissions in these days and they are doing training...

My site (com/edu) was added to LS free about a year ago. I noticed it when I found hits coming from the MSN directory. I even wrote LS and requested they update the description; it took two months, but it was done! It eventually propagated through all their affiliates.

Could be the case I submitted a site yesterday lunchtime had an email 3 hrs later to confirm they accept it
