Question about the Excite directory listings

How long has Excite been having a DMOZ style directory? I just started recieving hits from it around a month ago. It was kind of a shock as I didn't realize Excite even used a directory. They don't update very often do they?

It's the looksmart directory. Are you listed there?

Others using it: AV, MSN, iWon, CNN...

No I'm not listed in Looksmart. Don't use them at all.

My primary focus are Google, DMOZ, Yahoo. The Excite directory traffic is not a bunch of hits but they're hits no less.

If you click on the Excite directory button on their home page you get that the directory is powered by Looksmart but the name and description to my site are exactly that of my DMOZ listings. So does anyone know if Excite uses DMOZ as well or did my site just magically end up in Looksmarts listings?

I'd like to know how my 5 month old site landed in a paid directory for free!

Directory cross-fertilization. It is, um, not an isolated instance.

Well its not like I thought I was the first person to have this happen but if there was a way I could reproduce the result quickly it would be very good.

The sites which appeared in the Looksmart directory are part of a large link network of sites. All of which are listed in DMOZ. Not all of them appeared in Looksmart however. They all went up within a 2 week period.

If its not uncommon I'd sure like to see my sites cross-fertilize into Yahoo. :)

No big deal I just thought someone could answer my question quickly.
