Legitimate Multiple Categories

There has been a few threads concerning multiple entries in OPD either submitting subdomains or submitting to carious regioal/city categories as well as the main category.

But what about when there are more than one legitimate category already in ODP yo which you want to submit?

For example, searhing on "event planning" gives two very suitable categories:-
Business: Consulting: Event and Conference Planning, and
Business: Industries: Hospitality: Events: Event Planning and Management Companies, which both address the same industry.

Is it OK to submit to both? Should you submit to one with a note requesting inclusion in the second? If the latter, could that be percieved as the intitial category submitted to being the prefered one? And then could the additional listing request be not granted on the basis that the second category is an after thought? In the example above both categories are of equal value for the industry involved.

Any thoughts?

Woz,

I would cater my description to one of the cats first and then once that is accepted cater another description to the second cat and submit that one. You will have to wait longer, but it would be worth the wait.

It doesn't look to me as though the two categories you name deal with quite the same sites, despite the names. There may be overlap but the first category you named appears to be more for business/corporate event and conference planners. The second category appears to be more for general type event planners (weddings, concerts, etc.). Not quite the same thing. My advice would be take a good look at the sites already listed in those two categories and pick the category that best matches your company for your (first) submission.

And keep in mind that there is no guarantee that your site would be accepted in both, even if you think it is suitable (I'm not saying it won't, just that it might not be).

Yes you are right Motsa, but these two catagories, as an example, would suite a company doing corporate events AND Concerts. Therefor such a company would deserve to be listed in both.

I guess my question was along the lines of whether a double submission could be made at the one time with a relevant explanation, or do two seperate submissions as Hunter suggests. And if two submissions were made whether any demerit would be applied when/if it was realised the two submissions were for the same company.

It's up to you which way you want to do it then (single sub with note about 2nd category or two submissions). Either way there's a good chance that the editor reviewing in one category isn't going to have privileges in the other so there's likely to be some delay. If the company actually fits both categories, then no demerit should be given for submitting to both.

There wouldn't be any penalty for submiting to both categories. A busienss site is most likely to get listed in a Topical category and a regional. If on the other hand there were two sections of the site, one for corporate events planing and the other for entertainment, there might be a better chance of getting two listings. I can't see one submission to each of those categories hurting anything no matter how you look at it.
