ODP procedures

does this sound right?

Hello everyone,
After a few submissions to the ODP, and not being listed, I engaged in correspondence with one of the editors, (a direct competitor) who told me that they had not received my submissions. The editor went on to say that she would submit the site on my behalf, and would let me know when it came back to her from the "main panel editors". This was more than 3 weeks ago.
I just went back to the category to check things out, and I don't see her name as a category editor anymore. (it was shared).

My question is this. Would a category editor go through the submission process on behalf of someone instead of just adding the site? What should I do now? I know that this is the most important submission I can make, and don't want to screw it up. I am afraid to resubmit again for fear of spamming. Should I contact the other editor in the category?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

How about give us the url, category and description of what you submitted.

Welcome to Wmw firstmark.

We tend to stay clear of the specifics, like URL and category, and keep with issues of principles and procedures. It serves as a learning experience for all of us that way, and stays on track.

Hi!

I would suggest you to send a stickyMail to our Forum Moderator: Laisha. She knows about everything related to Open Directory.

Maybe she can find the time to investigate about your submission.

angiolo, since this is a procedural question, it's best right out here on the board so we can all benefit, unless Laisha herself suggests otherwise. If I'm not mistaken, correspondence should actually be made through ODP channels, directly there. The board is a good opportunity for us all to learn what the procedures are.

Hi Marcia!

You are right and I apologize for that suggestion! My suggestion was what I would have done..

In this forum there are several posts regarding the procedure to contact upper editors on ODP.

The second reason why I suggested to contact Laisha is that the problem concern an ODP Editor that is a competitor of the submitter: a matter that is not good to discuss in this forum.

"The editor went on to say that she would submit the site on my behalf, and would let me know when it came back to her from the "main panel editors".

Unless the editor wanted to fist confer with any coeditors in the category to make sure the site was a fit, this sounds um...bogus. In any case, that is a very peculiar way to say it. An editor can simply add a site to (a live category, publicly viewable, or in unreviewed which would be akin to submiting it) a category w/o having to submit it.

I have no idea what the "main panel editors refers to"

It's already being looked into.

Pmac did the right thing: he didn't post information specific to his site. If we start doing that, this forum will become nothing more than a personalized "help me with my own personal listing" board, and we've seen all too many times that this sort of thing isn't helpful to the membership at large.
