I submited my site to ODP in July and got listed soon, however 3 weeks later, I can not find it anymore in ODP.
What happened to my site? How can I reenter it?

Thanks advance.

Sorry I don't know your email(and how to email you in the forum)
My address is: [all-get-paid-online.com...]
It's already in the directory of AOL and Netscape(ODP's Partner)
but not in ODP.

Thanks!

your site was:
1. added by one editor on July 10, with amended description, to http://dmoz.org/ Computers/Internet/WWW/ Authoring/Webmaster_Resources/ Affiliate_Programs/ Resources/Directories/ [dmoz.org]

2. moved by a second editor to the Unreviewed box of that category on July 25 for having "little or no content and not meeting ODP guidelines." I've just sent off an email to that editor to ask which specific guidelines your page didn't meet.

3. deleted from the Unreviewed box by that first editor on August 11

Please remember that ODP editors are humans, unlike Yahoo staff whose hearts don't pump blood like yours or mine, but rather a thick black tar...etc.. I keep forgetting the rest of that line.

>Please remember that ODP editors are humans

Well, to err is human they say. Confirmed on the site in question by the way.

And, welcome to the forums iambbq, you can find the email address of users by clicking on their profile link, some choose to not to reveal their address (probably work for Inktomi and thrilled at the latest threadEpisode V - Inktomi Strikes Back [webmasterworld.com])

Thanks JamesR and Geniac, I have learned a lot from this forum.
As for my site, I am now not sure about it.
Before I saw your message(about the second editor's reviews), I am very confident with my site, I have compared with other get paid to surf sites in Yahoo! and other directories, I thought that mine is good, with get paid analysis written by myself which I can say some others don't have.
Go.com's guide said it's "a good site".
I really felt frustrated for the editor's review, but if I can know what I can do to meet the rule, I'll do.
by the way, how do you think of my site: content, design, ads.

Thanks again!

OK, got an email from the editor who edited your listing.
It seems the narrow guideline that the site didn't meet is the exact appropiateness of where you submitted.
My advice is to try submitting it, with an accurate Title and Description to a more appropiate category, say...
[dmoz.org...]

What I mean by accurate Title and Description is to type in the proper name of the site, not what's just in your [title] tag. If you don't type in a description, the ODP system automatically fetches the meta-tag from a page to use. If this meta-tag is full of keywords, often to get higher search engine results, an ODP editor may get annoyed by the meta-tag, keyword-filled "description".
The little things count.

Thanks Geniac very much.
However, I found that it's difficult to find the appropriate category.
I used "get paid" to search the ODP, and found 3 places fit to me:

1. (Your suggestion )dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/WWW/Free_Stuff/Surfer_Rewards/Resources.
In its description it says:"Do not submit review or rating pages, tips to get referrals, cheat programs, "which program should I sign up for?" pages, or lists of links with referral codes.". and I am afraid that my site will give the editor an impression of that. Because many of the sites there are not like mine.(or in face)

2. Top: Computers: Internet: WWW: Authoring: Webmaster Resources: Affiliate Programs: Resources: Directories.
This is what I submited before. If mine is not suitable for this category, how about these sites in the category:
www.angelfire.com/sd/freemoneyonthenet
www.angelfire.com/mi3/bucks4u/index.html
www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Vista/8015/getpaid.html
I think they are mostly just links of get paid to surf programs.

3. Top: Business: Opportunities: Resources and Networking:
I found more similar sites to me here. such as:
Get Paid Directory,Get Paid to Surf News,Get Paid to Surf the Web NZ,GetPaidGuides.
but,in the description, it says: "This category is not for affiliate programs, get paid to surf links, or MLM opportunities. Those submissions are deleted. "

I just don't understand what's going on there.

As for my topic and description, I am quite sure that I didn't use words in my title tag or meta tag. I wrote my title and description carefully, without any hypo and be accurate about my site.

Actually I have resubmited my site to the 2nd category before I asked help in the forum. So what can I do now? wait for 1 month and resubmit to another category? I am still not sure about whether should I submit to 1st or 3rd category?
Can you give me some suggestions?

Thanks!

Sorry for this long post, It's longer than any of my essays in school.

My replies to numbered points in above post:
1. You'll have to ask the editor of the category about that. Surfer Rewards and affiliate programs, etc are not something I am knowledgable about.
2. "how about these sites in the category"... You'll have to ask the editor of the category about those sites. ditto above answer.
3. same answer here.

Editors edit categories for topics they are knowledgable about. I don't edit any of the categories you are trying to be listed in, (and I don't want to because I wouldn't know what to do), so my level of help is very limited. Basically limited to giving generic suggestions such that I have.

iambbq - Your site seems to have more content about various get paid to surf sites than most. Generally I believe categories for get paid to surf, read email, etc.. programs, are for the actual program. For example, The alladvantage.com site would get listed in a get paid to surf category, but affiliate sites promoting it would not, simply because this is redundant. To list all alladvantage.com affiliate sites would diminish the value of the directory. The same is true for sitesell.com affiliates, marketingtips.com and others. The actual site gets listed but affiliates do not.

Whether or not your site gets listed depends on whether the editor perceives your site to be just a bunch of affiliate links to get paid to ___________ sites, or if what you have written about various programs is considered valuable content in and of itself, despite affiliate links, if there are any (I didn't check that). I don't work in any of the related categories, but would suggest that removal of the two banners at the top of every page would definately enhance an editors perception of the site if they do not in fact click through it to fully explore it.
